Heilinn rokkar...

heilanu

Exchange students.

Was having some rather vivid exchange flashbacks last weekend, since I got to join the Welcome camp for the arriving students here in NIceland.
I can safely say that I was the most enthusiastic person there. I think everyone thought I was a little bit crazy; but at AFS crazy is better, you know.

I met so many wonderful people. Icelandic and not-Icelandic-yet, and I fell absolutely and utterly in love with all the exchange students. They are excactly the way I was two years ago: open, eager, enthusiastic, bright and innocent. Beautiful people, really.

So I promised to be there for six week camp and drove away to work on Saturday close to tears. Thats how much I loved seeing them.

Wow, I really am getting mellow. I blame it on the age, really. Im getting older. Kids call me "lady" or "woman" at work in stead of "girl" and that does not feel very  nice. I think I might have to start wearing my hair in pigtails.

Cant wait! Six weeks are such a long time!

At the library.

There were two American/Icelandic children at the library today.  I thought it was so funny to hear them talk English I decided to chat with them a bit.
Cause thats what I do at work. Sit on the floor and play with children... Or flirt with the guys that come in to use the internet. One out of the two. Both on a busy day.

Now, Ive never been very fond of children but those two sure were cute.

I ended up playing half a game of chess with the older one, boy named Isak, but pretended to have to go work a bit when I found out that ,,at gifted children class we play chess and learn strategies." cause Sara does NOT lose when competing with 8 year olds, no matter how darn gifted...

After having printed out half a colouring book for little Anja and talked about the Iraq war and endangered elephants with Isak, their dad called them and told them it was time to go back home.  So Isak turned to me and wispered:

,,You are nice."

I told him he was too, and look, your daddy is waiting for you.
I just thought it was pretty awesome. I am nice :P
Although this does NOT mean that I like children. Not even a little bit. Because I dont. ;)

Saying goodbye...

Saying goodbye is something I have been doing quite a lot recently, and I really rather don´t like it. It seems everyone else is going places and I am the only person still here. And I really rather don´t like that either.

Now, I´m not going to write about all the people that have left my life for now, I´d rather write about saying goodbye to Pakkhúsiđ, my city´s only pub/club. They are tearing it down this week, so a proper farewell was due...
Here is the schedule for the very eventful night out:

  • 19.30 As to keep up with my friend, The Professional Drinker (TPD), I decided to start at home with two glasses of red wine (and as many evil glances from Mother)
  • 21.00 I went to TPD´s place and had a small beer as she was getting ready.
  • 21.10 Steal a sip og rum out of a kitchen cupboard.
  • 21.35 The Professional Drinker drinker decided to make me a single vodka, she herself drinking a very generous triple. Very professional.
  • 22.00 I finish my single vodka and start making my own drinks. This is where things start to go downhill. Very fast. Since I only brought beers and didnt feel like drinking them I borrowed some vodka from TPD. As I was mixing I told her I was mixing single vodkas when in fact I mixed double vodkas with a single serving of Bacardi Razzberry thrown in. Plenty of ice cubes and grape juice.
  • 22.15 A friend comes over with a bottle of apple schnapps. I have a shot.
  • 22.20 Liking the taste of apple schnapps I pour a dash into my glass every time the owner looks away. Which is pretty often.
  • 22.30 Am ready to go to club. Friends convince me that no one will leave the house before 00.30 at the very first, due to the anti-coolness factor of going out too early.
  • 23.00 Am bouncing off the walls. Pour increasing amounts of alchohol into my glass. Second hand smoke aplenty.
  • 23.30 Dance the shower dance, the car dance and various other entertaining dances.
  • 23.45 Announce my departure to the club. Refuse to wait any longer.
  • 00.15 Am driven to the club. Place is deserted, so I refuse to go inside.
  • 00.17 Am pushed inside by a very pissed off friend, whose bottle of apple schnapps is not very full anymore.
  • 00.20 We search for chairs.
  • 00.31 I throw up on floor.
  • 00.35 Go upstairs and spend next few minutes with head in men´s room sink. Very amusing to guys using said bathroom.
  • 00.45 Am dragged out of men´s room by TPD. She proclaims that she will now take me home. Am not very happy about course of events. Will party on.
  • 00.55 Am given a piggy-back ride home by TPD.
  • 01.05 TPD rings the doorbell constantly for about 3 minutes. Very sleepy Brother staying over with Girlfriend and Baby opens. Mother laughes as TPD pulles off boots, undresses me and puts me to bed.
  • 01.10 I wake up after very breaf sleep to find uptrow in bed next to pillow.
  • 01.15 Wake big Brother up. ,,You are my Brother! You clean up vomit!"
  • 01.17 Big Brother very pissed off. Cleans bed. Puts me back to bed and tucks me in. I sleep.

Day after was fantastic of course. I missed out on seeing Grandfathers New Girlfriend. Havent seen him for months due to New Girlfriend. Supposedly they dont even leave the bedroom. Mama took pity on me and made me food to last through the day and I stayed in bed. Pretty good day.

Denmark

First trip to Denmark this summer but not the last one... think im going back later in the summer or the fall.  Should have gone just after the final exams to see my brothers little baby but i decided against it since i had already bought the whole spring/summer collection from H&M when i went to Sweden :P

this trip was with gymnastics.  Pretty hard core... We trained every day, twice a day, 2-3 hours at a time.  Day two everyone was walking backwards up and down stairs and walking around with a very troubled look on their faces. sitting down on the toilet was murder, thats how much my thighs hurt :P

in between workouts we were pretty much popping pills. included in the trip were prescription painkillers, muscle relaxants, voltarengels, ibufen creams, deep heat, deep freeze... yeah... we gymnasts are stoners :P

Met The Ass himself. Still gorgeous.  Strong, sweaty, funny danish accent. Bless him :P
His little brother is gorgeous as well, and hes so funny. everytime somebody fell on the ass he almost wet himself laughing. And he doesnt have a tall, blonde, Russian supermodel girlfriend.  That I know of anyways.

When we werent slaving away doing pushups and crunches and jumping ourselves senseless on the trampoline we went swimming, tried frisbee golf, walked around the grounds, played games and shopped a little bit.  Ok some of us shopped a Big Bit :P

We went to two different amusement parks, and boy are they really amusing! Strange how people enjoy scaring the poo out of themselves... do we all have some twisted death wish?

anyways, its back to the library for me. library and the video rental. double shift today so im gonna sit down now for a while and do absolutely nothing.

Sweden

Just got home from Sweden a few days ago.

Had this school trip to research the difference in energy resources between Iceland and Sweden... sounds smart doesn´t it?? Nah... we were pretty much just drunk the whole time ;)

kidding mom :D

It was nice, Swedish people are very OK but Spanish guys rock!! If I hadn´t been sick for the last 3 days of my stay then I would soo not have come back to Iceland alone.  Why do they all look like Hollywood actors? Gorgeous, gorgeous specimen of the male species really :)

The nuclear power plant was the most fun.  But I think they must have banned school visits now due to some pretty uncomfortable questions relating to an incident where they had a couple of drunk employees and had to shut the plant down for security reasons.  In any case I recon I´m on the Black List :)

I think I´m going to Denmark as soon as school is out to see my brother´s new, blue Smurf baby... Am I excited? Well, I already bought everything I wanted from H&M this season.... :/ I´m bad...
After that is Denmark again with gymnastics.  I will meet again The Behind, the most glorious ass I have ever seen, just perfect.  Too bad the ass comes with a Russian Supermodel Girlfriend...
Then what? If not Paris (wink, wink) then Denmark yet again with the Choir... I´m not even going to think about that yet....

Anyways... It´s easter, I´m lazy.  School starts again tomorrow and I dont feel like doing any homework... I´ll start it 10 minutes to midnight tonight like always...

Adi babe, I think you are the only person reading this website really :) Love you for it :P
By the way, I have this lecture I´m supposed to give tonight about Indonesia :P I should maybe go prepare a little bit.

showers

Dad decided to throw out the flooring, central heating and the shower a couple of weeks ago, and only one of these things have been restored to my house.

I´ve been hanging out at various friends´ places to take showers, and sometimes eat as well.  It just so happens that the friends in question are not always at home when I do...

The other day I drove to my friend´s place and since the door was open and noone was in I just helped myself to a clean towel and took a wonderful bath.  About midway through my friend´s mom comes in and asks if its me.  Because who else? There is a stranger in your shower and right away my name pops to your mind.  Cause apparently that is the kind of thing I would do... apparently :)

I just thought it was funny...

in case you were wondering...

Just in case you were wondering...

Unlike most of my friends predicted I was not kidnapped and sold into white slavery once I got to Amsterdam... I am safely home :) It was quite nice actually, the whole trip I mean.
I almost chickened out at the airport since everyone had been telling me stories of their cousin´s nice´s aunt´s friend´s former lover´s bastard child´s husband´s girlfriend´s friend, that went to see someone in the Neatherlands and Did Not Come Back but ended their sorry lives in Lithuania as houskeepers and underpaid strippers.
Really?
I memorized my passport number and the booking code for the flight back... just in case :)

Back in school now, not much else to say. Except that I´m working on a few projects... lovely, lovely things happening in my life right now and I can´t risk jinxing it by writing about it just now.
